Answers to frequently asked questions

Students ask...

How do I log in to my school Gmail account?

Student usernames are the year they graduate from 8th grade lastnamefirstinitial@eusdk8.us.

Passwords are Eu-student number.

For example:

Username:  15fletcherc@eusdk8.us

Password:   Eu-12345

- If there are multiple students in the same grade with the same last name and same first initial, additional letters of their first name have been added to avoid duplicates.

- If a student has a hyphenated last name, only the name before the hyphen was used.

- If a student has spaces in their last name, they have been omitted.

- If a student has an apostrophe in their last name, it has been omitted.

I was absent, did I miss anything?
Of course you did, and we missed YOU! Please remember that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for all concepts learned while you were out so anytime you miss class here is what you should do PRIOR to coming back:
- Look at the "Daily Agenda" to see what the agenda items were for the day you missed.
- Go to the "Notes" page and copy down any warm-up problems, notes, or practice problems.
- If you have questions or need help please email me and/or attend Math Lab.

How do I know what the homework is, and when is it due?

All homework is posted in Google Classroom but most weeks you will be given 10 review questions. All work should be shown on the homework paper and final solutions will be submitted through a Google form in Google classroom. Homework is always due online by 10pm Thursday evening, but you are still required to bring the hard copy paper to class on Friday.

What if I need help on a homework question?
Students are always welcome to email me about homework questions or ask at the end of class. You may also provide a question as a response in the google form if it is too late to ask before homework is due.

Can I turn in late homework?

Because of the extended time frame for completing homework, late homework is not accepted. Please plan your week ahead of time so you can schedule time for homework as well as your other responsibilities.

I need help, what can I do?
- Look back at your notes, if you didn't take good notes copy them from the "Notes" page.
- Go to math lab (Tuesdays in C1: 2:25pm-3:10pm and Thursdays in C2 7:00am - 7:40am or C3: 2:25pm-3:10pm)
- Email Ms. Cramer your questions (please try to be as specific as you can)
- Try some additional practice problems and/or watch the Khan Academy tutorial videos

I'm trying to view the notes but it says I don't have access
You must be logged in to your student Gmail account to view notes.

How do I view assignments in Khan Academy?
Step 1: You must sign into Khan Academy using your student Gmail account
Step 2: On your home page (or profile page) there is a seperate tab for assignments, click on that to see if youhae any outstanding exercises that should be completed.

Why did I not receive full credit for an assignment?
Anytime a score (or assignment) appears in blue text in PowerSchool it means there is a comment or link attached. You can click on the title of the assignment or the score to see what the note/link is.

How do I study?
The first step to doing well is being able to consistently solve problems accurately WITHOUT the help of notes and/or friends. You have access to extra practice from the text, skills, or Khan Academy so be sure to regularly complete extra problems AND check to make sure your solutions and/or process are accurate. If you are not consistently getting correct solutions get help BEFORE the summative topic assessment.

I thought I studied enough for the most recent assessment but I'm not happy with the score, what can I do?
Students are allowed to make corrections on any 4 point assessment question (maximum correction points will be 3 out of 4). Please submit the corrections along with the assessment reflection (parent signature required) within one week of receiving back the assessment.

How can I bring up my grade?
Assessments make up the majority of your grade (combined 80%) so if your grade has fallen due to low assessment scores be sure to take advantage of revisions

 Do you offer extra credit?
Extra credit is typically offered to a class once per trimester and will be announced ahead of time in class. Please do not ask for individual extra credit assignments.

How can I help my student at home?
Daily class activities include notes and a variety of practice problems but for some students this is just not enough.
1) Check to see if your student has a written record of all class notes and practice problems. Not all text pages are completed in each chapter so refer to our daily agenda as well as the notes page to know what was completed in class.
2) Be sure that your student is getting enough additional practice at home to meet their individual needs. Refer to our "Extra Practice" page for links to a variety of sites that have step by step directions, video tutorials, and endless practice problems.
3) Refer to the Family Guide Page

How can my student raise his/her grade?
Assessments make up the majority of the overall grade (combined 80%) so be sure that your student is properly preparing for all assessments (completing all notes and practice in class as well as additional practice at home). When needed, students should also be taking advantage of test corrections opportunities.
