The graduation committee is excited about the events coming up for graduation. It is the goal of this committee to plan a memorable graduation experience for all students who have met graduation requirements.  The graduation celebrations include the Dance, Trip to Six Flags, Luncheon, and Ceremony. This packet includes more detailed information about the events, a permission form for the trip, and information about how you can contribute to the celebrations.

The dance has been scheduled for Friday, June 1st beginning at 7:00pm and ending at 10:00pm. The dance is for 8th grade students only.  The entire MP Room will be decorated and refreshments will be provided.  Please plan to pick up your child promptly at 10:00pm. No students will be allowed entrance after 7:30 without prior approval. More details are attached to this letter.

Tuesday, June 5th, the graduates will leave for Six Flags/Discovery Kingdom at 8:00am and will return to school at approximately 7:00pm. Students need to arrive at school at 7:40 am for check-in.  Please remember to bring spending money for lunch, snacks, and souvenirs while at Discovery Kingdom.  We request that you reaffirm with your student basic rules of courtesy and safety, arrive promptly and be prepared to have FUN!

Thursday, June 7th is a minimum day.  The PTC and the graduation committee will provide a lunch for our graduating 8th grade students.

The graduation ceremony will take place outside on the amphitheater at Olympus at 7:00pm on Thursday, June 7th.  Students must arrive by 6:00pm in the Gym for check-in and organization. No tickets need to be purchased or reserved for the ceremony. Families are welcome to bring as many people as they would like and gates will open at 6:00pm.  Students will wear robes for the graduation ceremony. We ask that the students respect this occasion and wear tasteful, appropriate, casual dressy attire. Shoes should be suitable for marching in and out of the ceremony – no flip flops, tennis shoes or shorts.

Our PTC has organized a graduation committee to help us put on all of the fantastic activities for our graduates.  We have set up a “Sign Up Genius” account to help coordinate volunteers and posted to our PTC website (http://olympus.eurekausd.org/Parents/PTC/index.html ).  Here’s the direct link to the Sign Up Genius site: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e054aaca829a57-volunteers .  

Graduation activities are ONLY funded by donations. The PTC will help to defray the cost of as many graduation related event expenses as possible.  However, to keep all of the activities at the level our graduates deserve, we are asking for an $85 contribution from our families.  Please make checks in the amount of $85 payable to OJHS no later than Friday, May 11th.  This will help cover the cost of gowns, graduation dance, celebration luncheon, and Discovery Kingdom tickets.  Scholarships are available if necessary- please contact Mr. Healy at Olympus for more information (shealy@eurekausd.org) .
